As the dog days of summer arrive, Iowa’s heat index and humidity rise and so too do the expenses. The Beat the Heat Splash campaign is dedicated to providing summer programming for clients to pay for the rising cost of air-conditioning and water utilities, pool passes, and other summer activities. When we reach designated fundraising benchmarks, local celebrities have agreed to get splashed with a bucket of ice water.
We’re cookin’ up a great time! Come on down to the 3rd annual BBQ Bash to benefit Shelter House on Friday, September 27th. Enjoy a night of delicious food, music, and games for the entire family at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. And live it up with bluesy rockabilly music by an Iowa City favorite, HomeBrewed!
National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is an annual program where people come together across the country to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness. Participating groups spend the week holding a series of educational, service, fundraising, and advocacy events.
Foodies Fighting Homelessness is a fun and interactive way for restaurants to do what they do best by serving their flavorful dishes to interested diners while giving community members a chance to interact and discuss issues facing our community today. Join us at one of the many participating locations in our community. Our connected approach allows restaurants to shine in their own setting while bringing the community together. Tickets available for purchase October 1, 2019.
