The 501 Project

501 Southgate

The 36 apartments at 501 Southgate Avenue, adjacent to our Emergency Shelter, house individuals for whom homelessness has become a chronic condition (all tenants meet the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s definition of chronic homelessness). Much like Cross Park Place, 501 follows the “Housing First” model of Permanent Supportive Housing, providing apartments for individuals who are historically difficult to house due to underlying medical and mental health conditions. Tenants at 501 move to their own individual, affordable, one-bedroom apartments and can stabilize as tenants before accessing support services when each individual tenant decides they are ready to do so.
