InKind Donations

Help meet our clients’ most basic needs

Donations for all Shelter House programs including Emergency Shelter, Winter Shelter, Fairweather Lodge, and Cross Park Place may be dropped off at Shelter House, 429 Southgate Avenue, Iowa City.

Due to limited storage capacity, please contact us at (319) 351-0326 or complete the inquiry form on our Contact Us page prior to bringing donated items to Shelter House. As a result of increased activity within the shelter and front desk, the best time to drop off donations is between 10am – 4pm 7 days/week; however, we’re staffed 24/7. This will allow time to receive and process donations efficiently.

Additional questions? Contact our front desk at (319) 351-0326.

Considering food donations? Shelter House operates a licensed commercial kitchen. Due to the strict nature of our license, we are unable to take many food donations. If you’d like to donate food, contact Tonia Franklin, Kitchen Manager, for information on what food and non-food items are acceptable.

Cash donations are also welcome which allow us to purchase needed items that we don’t receive or are able to purchase for less.
